The Caledon Historical Society

Since the day I first set foot on the telehub in Victoria City, I have been amazed by the creativity, skill, hospitality, generosity and humour of the citizens of Caledon. I have found a community that feels like what I have always thought a community should feel like. If one takes a stroll through the various neighbourhoods, one imagines oneself in another time and another place. A time and place where people understand the importance of each others virtues. And the Disappointment Sets In…

First, let me make this perfectly clear: Caledon is a beautiful place. It is quite irrelevant of which Caledon one speaks. It could be Caledon in Ontario, Canada. Perhaps the legendary forest of Caledon in Scotland. Or, more directly in this case, the Independent State of Caledon in Second Life. Unfortunately, beauty can be fleeting. (more…)

Pondering the Land Glut . . .

An interesting thing happened on the way to the forum. . . . Ok, I wasn’t on my way to the forum, but I had an experience that was interesting, none the less. I met a casino operator. Rather, I met a former casino operator. She was blue, both in skin tone and in spirits. (more…)

The Lab Lounge

Many years ago, I had an idea that one day I would like to own a pub. Not a biker bar or a peeler joint, whatever they are, but a nice, old, English pub. On the television, whatever that is, I saw a program segment about a pub in England called “Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem” and I fell in love. I decided one day to open a pub with just that sort of feel. Well, I haven’t done that, but I’ve decided to bring a little civility to the mainland and have just opened The Lab Lounge in Janus. (more…)

Second Life Without Gambling

I go on vacation for just a week (and a couple days) and all heck breaks loose. In this case, the heck broke loose and fell from the grid. Chance gambling (poker, keno and the like) for money or such is now against the TOS in Second Life. (more…)
